Glee star's death was a 'sad and tragic accident' says coroner

Cory Monteith's death was due to a heroin and alcohol overdose, a coroner has confirmed.

The Glee actor was found dead in his hotel room on Saturday by hotel staff after he failed to check out.

The British Columbia coroner's office said: "There is no evidence to suggest Mr Monteith's death was anything other than a most sad and tragic accident.

"The cause of death was a mixed drug toxicity, and it involved heroin primarily and also alcohol."

Cory recently checked himself into rehab in April this year.
